Thred Community Guidelines

Effective Date: May 6, 2026

1. Introduction

Thred is an adventure social network that connects people for outdoor activities — hiking, cycling, climbing, running, and more. These Community Guidelines exist to ensure that Thred remains a safe, respectful, and authentic place for every adventurer on the platform.

By using Thred, you agree to follow these guidelines. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination without notice.

2. Be Kind and Respectful

Thred brings together people of all backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels. Treat every member of the community with respect.

  • Do not post hateful, discriminatory, or threatening content toward any individual or group.
  • Do not use Thred to demean, humiliate, or target other users.
  • Healthy debate about routes, gear, or outdoor pursuits is welcome — personal attacks are not.
  • Respect others’ privacy, including their home location and personal details.

3. Keep It Authentic

The Thred community is built on real people and real adventures. Misrepresentation undermines everyone’s experience.

  • Do not create fake accounts or impersonate another person or brand.
  • Do not post spam, unsolicited promotions, or deceptive links.
  • Do not misrepresent your identity, credentials, or affiliation.
  • Route data, event details, and group information must be accurate and kept up to date.

4. Share Responsibly

Content you share on Thred is visible to other community members. Post content that you would be comfortable with the entire Thred community seeing.

  • Do not post graphic, violent, sexually explicit, or otherwise harmful imagery.
  • Respect copyright — only share content you own or have rights to share.
  • Do not share personal information about others (addresses, phone numbers, financial details) without their explicit consent.
  • Mark content appropriately when sharing sensitive topics such as injuries or difficult terrain.

5. Child Safety and CSAE Policy

Thred has a strict minimum age requirement of 13 years old to create an account or use the application. Thred does not knowingly permit children under 13 to register or use the platform.

Thred has a zero-tolerance policy for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) material of any kind. This includes, but is not limited to, any content that sexualizes minors, facilitates grooming, or promotes exploitation of children.

When Thred becomes aware of CSAE content or conduct on the platform, we will:

  • Immediately remove the content and suspend the offending account.
  • Permanently ban the account from Thred.
  • Report the incident to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) via its CyberTipline, as required by U.S. law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A).
  • Cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities in any investigation.

If you encounter any content or behavior on Thred that you believe involves the exploitation of a child, report it immediately using the in-app reporting tools or by emailing [email protected]. You may also report directly to NCMEC at www.missingkids.org/gethelpnow/cybertipline.

6. Privacy and Location Safety

Thred includes live location sharing features. Use them responsibly.

  • Only share your location with people you trust.
  • Do not use location data from Thred to stalk, surveil, or harass other users.
  • Do not share screenshots of other users’ locations without their consent.

7. No Harassment or Bullying

Thred is committed to being a harassment-free environment. We have zero tolerance for behavior intended to intimidate, silence, or harm other members.

  • Do not send threatening, abusive, or unwanted messages to other users.
  • Do not coordinate group harassment or pile-on campaigns against any individual.
  • Do not repeatedly contact someone after they have asked you to stop.
  • Reporting a genuine safety concern in good faith is never a violation of these guidelines.

8. Reporting and Enforcement

All Thred users can report content or conduct they believe violates these guidelines using the in-app report tools on any post, profile, or message.

Thred reviews reports and may take any of the following actions depending on severity:

  • Content removal
  • Formal warning issued to the account
  • Temporary suspension
  • Permanent account termination
  • Referral to law enforcement

For urgent safety concerns — including child safety — contact us directly at [email protected].

9. Updates to These Guidelines

Hinterland Arts, LLC may update these Community Guidelines from time to time to reflect changes in law, platform features, or community standards. The “Effective Date” at the top of this page will be updated whenever material changes are made. Continued use of Thred after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised guidelines.

Questions about these guidelines can be directed to [email protected].
